SOUTHAMPTON, New York, May 20, 2023 — Geotex is an exhibition of textile- based artworks that feature geometry in abstraction. These unique works employ traditional weaving, felting, knitting, knotting, printing and stitching that celebrate geometric patterns and forms.
A large group of works will be exhibited in various forms including works on paper, sculpture and wall hangings by a group of artists known for their deep exploration of textile patterns and structures. This wide- ranging summer show at Jeff Lincoln Art + Design’s Southampton gallery opens May 28th and runs through September 15th, 2023.
“This show gathers a group of artists with whom I connect with through a mutual interest in the language of abstraction as expressed in the textile medium,” says Liz Collins, the NYC based artist known for her dynamic work in textiles. “While we work in different ways, we all employ the language of abstraction with geometry to express ideas about spiritual vernaculars, mathematical systems, natural phenomena, and other concepts.”
“I am happy that we are now in a time where this kind of work is taken seriously and that the medium of textiles is expanding people’s understanding of the ideas and the techniques that have been embedded in art and design for centuries,” says the artist.
