JUNE 28 | A SITE-RESPONSIVE INSTALLATION | LIZ | WASHINGTON, DC | 2019

JUNE 28, created in 2019, is an amalgamation of stoneware and hand-applied 22-24K gold leaf. The work was commissioned by FiveSquares Development for placement in the residential lobby of, LIZ, a new mixed-use development along 14th Street in Washington, DC. ART AT LIZ invited a selection of artists to create public art projects for sites in and around the building. In collaboration with Whitman-Walker Health, the overall concept of LIZ is one that furthers the growth of Whitman-Walker while providing a cultural hub that celebrates the vibrant culture of this LGBQT+ community.

JUNE 28 is titled in honor of the 1969 Stonewall uprising, which ultimately served as a catalyst for the gay rights movement that followed.
